“As a woman, closing the gender gap in mechanical engineering has been my dream. Women make up 49.5 percent of MIT’s undergraduates in mechanical engineering, due to department’s proactive approach. However, meeting WV4A where I was approached to be a speaker for the Bridging Diversity with Technology and Innovation conference organized by WV4A in 2022, made me realise what a difference I make. SMEs are vital to the global economy including the UK, where the government has introduced new measures to help protect and sustain small businesses post-Brexit. Working law gave me wide expertise on how to deal with diaspora communities to support them from a legal standpoint to ensure that the organizations are respecting the law. “I joined wv4a in 2018 at very young age. I saw my mother putting ideas together and having a passion for supporting children in Mozambique. Each time we went for a holiday we had to visit primary schools and give them clothes, food, pencils and pens. I realized then that there are kids in Mozambique with so very little, so I wanted to help them at any cost.
In 2021 I managed to get my job at Cambridge University’s Churchill College thanks to my volunteer work. I am continuously learning how to make a difference as a champion.”
